Albero Verde 1.0.0 Launch

This is not a drill, the game is completed! The final addition to the game, the stories at the end, are now in the game! What happens now??

  • I will be listening for any bug reports for the next few weeks.
  • I will begin dev work for a new game now that this one is considered completed on my end.
    • Those of you asking for more characters/mechanics are being listened to! Just not for AV. But a sequel may incorporate your ideas! If there's anything you felt AV missed the mark on you can let me know and a sequel may help rectify that. There are many improvements I want to make on in sequels, such as backgrounds for locations. Marmor as a world has made its debut, and there's more stories I can tell in it! A lot of things are easier to have for a game if I know I want them going in.

All of you have been nothing but the best I could ask for, and I really appreciate that. You rock, have a great time! Some closing thoughts:

When I set out to make a game in October of last year, I was not building it with the intention to finish. Hell, I wasn't even building it with the intention of releasing the earliest version. But as I built on little prototype after little prototype I felt inspired that I maybe could make a game after all. So at some point when I started over for what seemed like the fifth time, I locked in. I used the basics I learned to make the first version of Albero Verde, and shared it online to get feedback.

A lot went wrong back then! Mistakes are a natural part of the game building process, so I am super grateful to both myself and the audience for playing the game so much and reporting bugs to make the experience the best I can manage it as a single developer. Each release was followed by a barrage of bug fixes, I sometimes feared I was pushing the bug fixes too fast, but I don't regret that any more. Having the game not brick I feel is very important, and I hope to keep that philosophy going forward. I could not have made this alone, holding it all to myself without releasing the first step of the journey. The Maid Cafe, Moon Routes, everything that followed was only done because I felt encouraged to do it and that the first versions were played and feedback, both good and bad, was given. Each version felt like a solid step in progress, always contributing more than 10% of the total game.

The scope of the game, even now that it's done? A little too big. I was able to keep a consistent monthly update schedule up until 0.7 when the momentum slowed way down. I think if the game were ever so slightly smaller in scope I would've kept full momentum all the way through. I'm still happy with it though, during development I had to reduce the scope a LOT, so getting it to a level where I could actually complete development of the game in less than a year is still a victory.

Thank you once again for all the feedback given. I'm happy to have finished a game, and hope to finish many more.

Almost exactly one year, just like we spent in AV! Time for Page to take the wheel

Hey congrats on finishing this project! Do you plan to make the next game in twine again or are you thinking of trying something different like RPG maker? Excited to see either way

Exploring options and building prototypes for now! Sequels to AV will likely remain in Twine. Other game ideas I had in mind I could be built in RPG Maker, Godot, or Game Maker, Im trying stuff out!

And the game name?

I've been watching this project from the beginning and it's really well done. I'm glad to see it to completion and can't wait for what comes next
