Albero Verde 0.7.0 under construction


Howdy! Version 0.7.0 (The Tide Update) is under construction  for release in mid-late June and will primarily comprise of the LOW TIDE and HIGH TIDE story beats, which is the last major beats of the story planned for the game before you're allowed to initiate a complex ending. Complex endings, being the end of the game, are planned for 1.0, so there will a time where you're mechanically and functionally able to reach the end of the game but can not actually view it.

After pushing the underwater gates open in the mermaid haven, you will enter a small maze area. While in this area, your draconic mana won't drain so you can wonder it as long as you like. While in this zone you will be given the opportunity to select which of the two routes you want to play (unless forced by your other story selections). Unlike the other routes which happen after festivals, these stories can be started regardless of any of the maiden's pregnancy state, which can change details of the story (such as the second picture below, where it may pan out slightly differently if Olivia is not pregnant when you arrive.)

In HIGH TIDE you are whisked outside of Albero Verde by an unknown force while in the underwater temple. You unite with Ina's mother to get out of where you find yourself, and then later you find more familiar Albero Verde citizens in a similar situation. Everyone learns more about each other as they find out what's preventing them from going home.

In LOW TIDE you are more directly involved as you manage to not get removed from the city. Early on this route, Megan (Katherine's Mom) finds you out of sorts, but as she's taking you to the clinic the situation calls for running away from a threat named Wendy. The two of you retreat into the Maid Cafe, where Mindy tells you to take shelter in Olivia's room. This route is very modular, with opportunities to make decisions that change how the rest of it plays out before converging to its ending.

That is all I'll tease for this update while I work on it. Since this is the last leg of the game, there's less "Numbers go up" rewards here as it prepares to reach its conclusion. 0.7.0 will contain the last mechanics-focused system (Nim at the mermaid Palace; some rewards based on the tide route you picked), and 1.0 will be primarily dedicated to getting each of the 6 possible endings in the game. Will we get a brief description of what our choice will do like with the moon and sun endings? Or will it be a bit more of a mystery this time?

Bit more of a mystery this time; Tides are two different paths through the same story, instead of two different paths with each their own story. There are some foreshadowing elements in the maze before the ending choices.
